We spent a few days in Red WIng, MN...a small town just northeast of Rochester right on the banks of the Mississippi River. Back in the day, Red Wing was known for the volume of wheat that passed onto boats there. We stayed at the historic St. James Hotel, which is surely haunted, though we saw no signs of ghosts. Below you can see that Hunter was excited about the plush digs.
We made a side trip down to Lake City where the river widens into Lake Pepin. It looks like a lake and people treat it like a lake even though it is still the Mississippi. Lots of sailboats here.
